How to Avoid Paying Interest on Purchases

Your due date is at least 23 days after the close of each billing cycle. We will not charge you any interest on purchases if you pay your entire balance by the due date each month. We will begin charging interest on balance transfers, checks and cash advances on the transaction date.

How Do You Determine Whether I Will Receive the Gap Inc. Mastercard Credit Card or the Gap Inc. Credit Card? Unless you have been offered a specific product, you are requesting that Barclays consider you for a Gap Inc. Mastercard®. Your credit history and application will be reviewed to determine whether you qualify for the Mastercard. If we are unable to approve you for the Mastercard, you will automatically be considered for the Gap Inc. Credit Card. The Gap Inc. Credit Card can only be used to make purchases from Gap, Old Navy. Banana Republic or Athleta retail, online or Outlet/Factory stores located in the U.S. and Puerto Rico.

About Your Credit Report: You authorize Barclays to obtain credit reports and other information about you from credit reporting agencies and other sources in connection with our review of your application, and if we establish an account for you, to administer your account. You agree that we may report to others our credit experience with you. If you ask, we will tell the names and addresses of any credit bureaus from which we obtained a report about you.

About the Variable APRs on Your Account: We use the highest Prime Rate listed in the The Wall Street Journal on the last business day of each month. For the non-promotional purchase and balance transfer APR (if applicable), we add 22.74% to the Prime Rate. For the cash advance APR (if applicable), we add 23.74% to the Prime Rate.  See your Cardmember Agreement for more detail. The APRs noted above are current as of 06/30/2022 using a Prime Rate of 4.75%.

Important Information About Procedures for Opening a New Account: To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an account. What this means to you: When you apply for an account, we will ask for your name, street address, date of birth, social security number, and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see copies of identifying documents. We also ask for country of citizenship.

Balance Transfers (Mastercard Only). Here's How it Works: To request a balance transfer please enter the 15/16 digit account number from the Mastercard, Visa, American Express, or Discover Card account that you want us to process a balance transfer from. If the total amount you request exceeds the assigned credit line on your new account, we may either decline the request or send a partial payment to your creditor(s). The amount of available credit on your new account will be reduced by the amount transferred and the related balance transfer fees. We reserve the right to decline to process any requested balance transfer. We will not process a request to transfer a balance from any other account you may have with us. Balance transfers incur interest from the transaction date. You should not transfer the amount of any disputed purchase or other charge. If you do, you may lose your dispute rights.

Upon approval of your application we will process the requested balance transfer payment to the account(s) which you have requested on the 10th day after we've mailed you your card; during this 10 day time period you may cancel your balance transfer by contacting us at the number on the back of your card. A balance transfer may take up to 4 weeks to post to your other accounts. Continue to pay each creditor until the balance transfer appears on the other account as a credit. If you would like to complete a balance transfer from another account that is not a Visa, Mastercard, American Express or Discover Card account, please call the phone number on the back of your new credit card once you are approved. Balance transfers are subject to availability. We may deny balance transfer requests at any time and for any reason.

How to Avoid Paying Interest on Purchases (excluding Easy Pay):  You can avoid paying interest on purchases if you pay your purchase balance subject to interest (excluding Easy Pay Offers) plus any monthly Easy Pay Payment Amount in full by the Payment Due Date every month. If you do not pay your purchase balance subject to interest (excluding Easy Pay Offers) plus any monthly Easy Pay Payment Amount by the due date each month, you will pay interest from the date purchases are posted to your account until the date you pay those Purchases in full. To avoid a late fee, you should pay at least the minimum payment due on your account each month.

Credit Limit: We do not permit applicants to request a specific credit limit. We do not consider a request for a balance transfer made with an application to be a request for a particular credit limit. We determine the credit limit on your account independent of and prior to processing any balance transfer request.

Dispute Resolution: You agree that any dispute between us will be resolved by binding Arbitration. For more information regarding Arbitration please see the Cardmember Agreement summary for details.

Cash Equivalent Purchases: Mastercard only, the purchase of money orders, travelers' checks, foreign currency, lottery tickets, gambling chips, wire transfers and other similar transactions are treated as cash advances. Please see your Cardmember Agreement for details.

Notice to Ohio Residents: The Ohio laws against discrimination require that all creditors make credit equally available to all creditworthy customers, and that credit reporting agencies maintain separate credit histories on each individual upon request.  The Ohio Civil Rights Commission administers compliance with this law.

Notice to Married Wisconsin Residents: No marital property agreement, unilateral statement or court decree under Wisconsin's marital property law will adversely affect our interests unless before your account is opened, you give us a copy of the agreement, statement or decree or we have actual knowledge of it. You understand that we may be required to give notice of this account to your spouse. If the loan for which you are applying is granted, you must give us your spouse’s name and address by writing to us at Barclays Bank Delaware, PO Box 8801, Wilmington, DE 19899.

Express Delivery: If you are approved for an account your card will be sent via next day FedEx delivery after your account is opened if your request for express delivery is made before 3:00pm ET of that day. If you added an additional card user(s) on your application the additional card(s) cannot be expressed delivered.

REWARDS PROGRAM

(GAP GOOD REWARDS, BANANA REPUBLIC REWARDS, ATHLETA REWARDS AND OLD NAVY NAVYIST REWARDS) TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR CARDMEMBERS

These Cardmember Terms and Conditions for the Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy or Athleta Credit Card, Mastercard® and World Mastercard (each sometimes referred to herein as a “Gap Inc. Credit Card”) supplement the Reward Program Terms and Conditions, available at www.gap.com/RewardProgramTerms which also apply.

You must be a Reward Program Member to earn Reward Points and enjoy other benefits of this Reward Program.

Definitions:

  • The Gap Inc. loyalty program (“Program”) consists of 4 branded expressions: Gap Good Rewards, Old Navy Navyist Rewards, Banana Republic Rewards, and Athleta Rewards and is offered exclusively by The Gap Inc., and its subsidiaries and affiliates (also referred to as “Gap Inc.” “we,” “our,” or “us”).
  • “Family of Brands” means Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy and Athleta brands.
  • “Members” (also referred to as “you,” “your,” including “Cardmembers”) participate in the Program.
  • “Account” means a Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy or Athleta Credit Card, Mastercard and/or World Mastercard.
  • A “Cardmember” is the holder of an Account.
  • “Qualifying Purchase”: Program benefits for Cardmembers apply when you or an authorized user on your Account make purchases using your Account and you meet these requirements: Your Account is: 1) open, and 2) You have not canceled your membership in the Program.
    • Cardmember benefits do not apply to cash or debit card purchases or purchases using credit cards other than one of the Accounts.
    • Qualifying Purchase amounts do not include amounts for cash advances, balance transfers, sales tax, shipping charges, or non-personal purchases. In addition, any transaction amount paid with earned rewards, a purchase order, gift card, merchandise credit, mail certificate, gift certificate, credit voucher, refund check, or any other type of store credit, will not earn reward points.

If you participate in the Program for your Account, you accept these Program Terms and Conditions for Cardmembers as well as the Program Terms and Conditions (www.gap.com/RewardProgramTerms) which supersede all previous terms and conditions applicable to the Credit Card Rewards Program and are incorporated herein by reference, including the Dispute Resolution and Arbitration Agreement. You also acknowledge that Gap Inc.’s Privacy Policy also applies (available online at www.gapinc.com/en-us/consumer-privacy-policy). The Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and share information. 

All Program benefits, offers, rewards, and services are subject to availability. Gap Inc. may at any time amend, modify, supplement, or terminate the Program, these Program Terms and Conditions, the structure for earning rewards, or reward levels, even though such changes may affect the value of rewards, or the ability to obtain certain rewards. If the Program is terminated, all unredeemed benefits will be forfeited without any obligation or liability and will not be honored upon termination or after the conclusion of the notice period, if any notice is required by law. Under no circumstances will we be held liable for any delay or failure in performance due in whole or in part to any acts of nature or other circumstances beyond our reasonable control. We reserve the right to cancel or suspend your participation in the Program or any Rewards earned and not yet used in the event of fraud, abuse of rewards privileges, violation of these Program Terms or Conditions, or at our sole discretion. The Program is exclusive to the United States only, including Puerto Rico.

CARDMEMBER ELIGIBILITY AND ENROLLMENT IN THE PROGRAM

All Account Cardmembers are eligible to participate in the Program and will be automatically enrolled in the Program when applying for a Gap Inc. credit card (whether approved or declined). Unless you close your Program membership, you will earn points when using your Gap Inc. credit card to make purchases. Limit 1 Program Membership per person, email address and phone number. If you determine that you have more than one separate Program account under different email addresses and/or phone numbers, you may contact Customer Service at 1-833-244-5556 and request that your Program accounts be combined into one Program account.

Cancellation of Membership: If you are a Cardmember and cancel your Program membership, your Account will remain open, but you will no longer earn points for Account purchases. To cancel a Program membership, please call Customer Service at 1-833-244-5556 Monday – Friday from 9am – 9pm ET and Saturday from 10am – 8pm ET.

Membership Status Level: If you apply and are not approved for an Account, you will be enrolled into the Program as a CORE member, if you have not previously enrolled in the Program. New Cardmembers will enter the Program at the ENTHUSIAST status level, however, current Icon status Members who become Cardmembers will enter at Icon status level. Cardmembers will unlock the ICON status level with additional benefits based on total Qualifying Purchases of $1000 at our Family of Brands or by earning 5000 Base Points (points earned excluding bonus points) during a calendar year.

Upgrades will be processed within 60 days after qualifying, and the Icon status will be valid for both the remainder of the calendar year in which it is earned and for the next calendar year (January 1 – December 31). At the start of each new calendar year, Qualifying Purchases amount (Members or Cardmembers) or Base Points Earned (Cardmembers only) will reset to zero. Cardmembers must re-qualify for Icon status as outlined above during each calendar year, with the following exceptions: If you are Luxe4Life member, you will retain your Luxe4Life membership at the Icon status as long as you retain the Account that qualified you for Luxe4Life. If you are a World Mastercard Cardmember, you will be at Icon status unless and until you no longer meet the requirements to qualify for World Mastercard.

BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP

Members will receive exclusive benefits, services, and event access. Many of the benefits are outlined in the Program Terms (www.gap.com/RewardProgramTerms). Additional benefits and promotions will be advertised and/or sent via email, so please ensure we have the most recent and accurate email address to receive information about your benefits. We are not responsible for communications, offers, or rewards sent to out-of-date email addresses.

Earning Points

  • Base Points: When you and/or your authorized user(s) use your Account to make a Qualifying Purchase at the Gap Inc. Family of Brands you will automatically earn 5 points for every dollar spent (rounded to the nearest whole dollar). If you use another form of payment to make a Qualifying Purchase you will earn 1 point per dollar spent when you provide the mobile phone number (in-store) or email address (online) associated with your account. If you make a Qualifying Purchase using Afterpay or PayPal, you will earn 1 point per $1 even if you use your Gap Inc. credit card in the PayPal or Afterpay platforms. If you or your authorized user(s) use your Account to make a Qualifying Purchase in our Family of Brands in locations outside of the United States or outside our Family of Brands wherever Mastercard is accepted, you will earn 1 point per dollar spent (rounded to the nearest whole dollar) or 2 points per dollar spent (rounded to the nearest whole dollar) if your Account is at the World Mastercard level. If you have more than one Gap Inc. credit card and you use the same phone number and email address for your credit card accounts and Program membership, all points earned will accumulate in one single Membership account.
  • Bonus Points: From time to time, you will be offered the opportunity to earn bonus points. The promotional materials may identify additional qualifying events, exclusions, and restrictions. Bonus points will not be used to determine your qualification for Icon membership status.

If you return merchandise purchased with rewards, the dollar value of the rewards allocated to the item(s) returned will be converted to points and credited to your Membership account to the extent we can identify that rewards points were used in the original purchase. If your points balance is insufficient to cover a deduction related to a return, your points balance may become negative. Subsequent points earned will first be applied to reduce that negative balance. Gap Inc. may suspend Membership accounts with a negative balance. If your Membership account is suspended, you may seek re-instatement from Customer Service. Returns of gifts you received but which you were not the original purchaser or return of items purchased without noting your Program Membership will not be tied back to your Program Membership account for return credit of any associated points. In a return transaction where reward points were used to reduce the total amount paid, you are entitled to a refund for only amounts actually paid. There is no limit to the amount of points you can earn in a calendar year, but if you do not earn or redeem points at least once every 12 months (from your last Qualifying Purchase), all earned and unredeemed points will expire and be forfeited.  Qualifying Purchase amounts do not include amounts for cash advances, balance transfers, sales tax, shipping charges, or non-personal purchases. In addition, any transaction amount paid with earned rewards, a purchase order, gift card, merchandise credit, mail certificate, gift certificate, credit voucher, refund check, or any other type of store credit, will not earn reward points.

REDEEMING REWARDS

You can redeem points in increments of 100 for $1 in rewards to be applied to a Qualifying Purchase.  Qualifying Purchase amounts do not include amounts for cash advances, balance transfers, sales tax, shipping charges, or non-personal purchases. In addition, any transaction amount paid with earned rewards, a purchase order, gift card, merchandise credit, mail certificate, gift certificate, credit voucher, refund check, or any other type of store credit, will not earn reward points.  You may redeem up to $250 in rewards per transaction. Rewards can be redeemed at our Family of Brands for the purchase of merchandise only. Not valid with subscription services such as Style Passport, or in the Gap Inc. Clearance Center. Rewards cannot be used for the purchase of gift cards, for taxes or state fees, shipping, and gift wrap charges. Rewards must be presented at time of purchase in store, or if you are shopping online, you must be signed into your online account in order to apply rewards to a purchase transaction online. The value of your reward will be prorated across items purchased and reflected on your receipt. Rewards may not be used as payment on an Account.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Points have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for cash or credit. You have no ownership interest in points, and these points collected do not constitute property. The use of the word “earn” or similar language in marketing materials and these Program Terms or in relation to the Program does not imply that the points have any value prior to conversion or redemption. Points may not be purchased or sold and are not transferable except as otherwise stated herein.
